A Guest-Ready Vacation Rental Turnover Checklist
A practical host checklist for cleaning, linens, restocking and the final walkthrough before guests arrive.

A vacation rental turnover is more than straightening cushions. It brings together cleaning, presentation and reporting so the property is ready for the next guest. Adapt the checklist to your home and confirm who handles each task.
Start with the property's instructions
- Confirm the rooms and cleaning tasks included.
- Keep current linen, amenity and staging instructions available.
- Identify owner-locked storage and delicate surfaces.
- Agree on how to report damage, missing items and unfinished tasks.
Check booking-specific notes instead of relying on memory. Laundry, restocking and maintenance should never be assumed to be included in cleaning.
Kitchen and dining
Remove leftover food as instructed, inspect the refrigerator and check that dishes are clean and stored correctly if dishwashing is included. Clean counters, the sink, the table and appliance exteriors using suitable products. Empty rubbish and replace liners according to the property plan.
Bathrooms and bedrooms
Clean and inspect toilets, sinks, showers, mirrors and floors. Replace towels and linens according to the agreed reset instructions, keeping clean items separate from used ones. Check drawers, closets and under beds for belongings or debris, then follow the host's process for anything left behind.
Living areas and supplies
Clean accessible surfaces and agreed high-touch areas. Vacuum or sweep before cleaning suitable hard floors. Check entryways and seating for dirt or smudges. Count amenities against the property's list and record shortages rather than substituting unapproved items.
Finish with a walkthrough
- Look for missed residue, misplaced items and damp floors.
- Report leaks or damage; do not attempt unauthorised repairs.
- Record completion through the host's agreed method.
- Confirm the property's access and security instructions have been followed.
Follow product labels, including any required contact time, and never mix chemicals. A written checklist makes responsibilities clearer and helps keep each reset consistent. When requesting a Cleansy turnover quote, describe the property and discuss cleaning, laundry and restocking needs separately.
